CLA and ORION Awards for Ontario Universities’ Librarians

Join us in congratulating all our colleagues from across OCUL who have been recognized this month for their contributions to the field of librarianship and higher education.

These awards highlight the depth of leadership, innovation and professional dedication within the OCUL community.
 
Alan Darnell (Director, Scholars Portal) has been awarded the ORION Leadership Award: Higher Education for his innovation and guidance of Scholars Portal since 2003. Leslie Weir (University Librarian, University of Ottawa) is the 2015 recipient of the CLA Ken Haycock Award for Promoting Librarianship for her “exceptional success in enhancing public recognition and appreciation of librarianship.”
 
Catherine McGoveran (Government Information Librarian, University of Ottawa) has been awarded the CLA Emerging Leader Award. Catherine is recognized through this award for her leadership in the Government Information and open data community.
 
Marni R. Harrington (Associate Librarian, Faculty of Information & Media Studies, Western University) and Elizabeth Marshall (Director, C.B. “Bud” Johnson Library, Western University), are awarded the CLA Robert H. Blackburn Distinguished Paper Award. Marnie and Elizabeth are recognized for their paper entitled “Analyses of Mentoring Expectations, Activities, and Support in Canadian Academic Libraries” in College and Research Libraries; 75(6) (November 2014).
 
John Fink (Digital Scholarship Librarian, McMaster University) is the 2015 recipient of the CLA Alan MacDonald Mentorship Award. John is recognized for his commitment to mentoring activities both at McMaster and within the broader library community.
 
Kathy Scardellato (Executive Director, OCUL) has been awarded the CLA Outstanding Service to Librarianship Award. Kathy is recognized for the significant contribution she has made throughout her career to both the Public and University Library communities.
