Published on 2025-09-25

The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) has released its 2024-2025 annual report. The report celebrates select milestones from the past year, highlighting a transformative period marked by strategic planning, technological experimentation, and deepened collaboration across Ontario’s academic library landscape.

In 2024-2025, OCUL:

  • Saved member libraries $10 million through license negotiations.
  • Managed 214 consortial e-resource licenses.
  • Launched its initial phase of AI and machine learning projects and programming.
  • Commemorated the fifth anniversary of the Collaborative Futures Omni academic search tool implemented at 19 member libraries.
  • Welcomed NOSM University, Université de Hearst, and Université de l’Ontario français as its newest Associated University members.
  • Published a new strategic plan following a 10-month consultation and development process.

Central to the annual report are the collective achievements made possible through the time, knowledge, and expertise generously shared by member library teams and leadership. "OCUL’s annual report is a testament to the power of collaboration in shaping the future of Ontario's university libraries," said Executive Director Amy Greenberg. "In a rapidly changing academic landscape, something that remains consistent is our membership’s collaborative spirit. I'm deeply grateful to the members and our staff teams who propel us forward and keep equitable innovation at the forefront of our collective work."
