The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) is seeking member nominations for a new Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee.
Alongside the pilot AI and Machine Learning (AIML) Program that concludes in 2027, OCUL has established a need to continue developing, implementing and evaluating AIML technologies for library services as part of its new four-year strategic plan. A key element of the ad-hoc committee's mandate will be to advise and provide feedback on the AIML Program and develop a longer term plan for engagement with artificial intelligence at the consortial level.
The Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee is a short-term group expected to sunset by May 31, 2027 and will consist of 8-10 representatives drawn from a variety of positions across the OCUL membership:
- Representatives from the OCUL Director or Associate University Librarian level (2-4)
- Representatives from OCUL-IR, OCUL-SPOD and/or OCUL-SP governance groups (1-2)
- Representatives from OCUL-CFSC or Collaborative Futures Subcommittees (1-2)
- Nominated library workers to ensure representation from other areas of library responsibilities (1-2)
Individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by someone else from their OCUL member library.
Please complete an online nomination to be considered for this opportunity.
Committee nominations are accepted until September 26, 2025 at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.
Further details about the Artificial Intelligence Advisory Committee are available in the terms of reference (PDF).
