The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) invites nominations from member libraries for two integral working groups that support the Collaborative Futures initiative.
These working groups present an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing integrity and maintenance of the Collaborative Futures shared bibliographic record and to learn from OCUL peers.
Working Group Details
Decolonizing Description Implementation Working Group (3-5 roles)
The Decolonizing Description Implementation Working Group engages in reparative metadata remediation work in the Network Zone. Tasks include:
- Establishing a framework and decision-making process for implementing reparative descriptions at the Network Zone level.
- Ongoing maintenance work required to ensure the language used in Network Zone descriptions is respectful and reduces harm.
- Identifying knowledge-sharing and training opportunities for Omni libraries to support their local consultation work.

Network Zone Metadata Maintenance Working Group (3 roles)
The Network Zone Metadata Maintenance Working Group helps ensure the integrity and trustworthiness of Network Zone bibliographic records to enable current and future collaborative projects. Tasks include:
- Developing ongoing database maintenance processes to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the Network Zone.
- Identifying issues and discuss possible resolutions for the benefit of all Omni libraries.
- Prioritizing, coordinating and performing tasks in the Network Zone to improve the quality of the available metadata.
- Performing routine Network Zone metadata maintenance (e.g., Orphan bibliographic record cleanup, merging duplicate records).

Nominations can be submitted via online form.

Individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by someone else from their OCUL member library.
The nomination period closes at 5 p.m. Eastern Time on May 29, 2026.
