The directors of the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) have approved the consortium's new strategic plan for 2025-2029.
Guided by core principles meant to advance academic research, teaching and learning, nurture social change and reconciliation with Indigenous communities, support robust infrastructure, and demonstrate value, the plan reflects OCUL's enduring commitment to innovative and equitable university library services.
Developed through consultation with member libraries, staff, consortial partners and past leadership, the strategic plan is designed to enhance the impact and value of OCUL's collective work and the services of Scholars Portal. The plan focuses on four key priorities:
- Foster collaboration in collection management
- Leverage technology for library innovation
- Strengthen governance, adaptability and organizational resilience
- Cultivate member engagement and enhance member capacity
“The plan emphasizes OCUL's role in facilitating initiatives that deliver efficiencies, leverage shared decision-making and provide technology services that ultimately benefit students and faculty across Ontario,” explained OCUL Executive Director, Amy Greenberg. “We’re grateful for the time, expertise and energy contributed to building this strategic plan, and especially to the committee comprising representatives from OCUL member libraries that helped bring it all together.”
