In response to increasing membership interest in Open Educational Resources (OER) and the role of libraries in this endeavour, OCUL recently undertook an environmental scan and analysis of current activities in open education publishing. This initiative has resulted in the publication of an Open Educational Resources White Paper.

On behalf of OCUL, the University of Ottawa has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for the Collaborative Futures project. The project has as its aim the procurement and implementation of a Software as a Service (SaaS) Library Services Platform (LSP) for participating OCUL members. At present, 13 of OCUL’s 21 members have agreed to move forward with migration to a shared LSP.
Queen’s University Library in collaboration with the Canadian Opinion Research Archive (CORA) and the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) is making CORA polling data freely available to the public via the Ontario Council of University Libraries’ <odesi>, Ontario Data Documentation, Extraction Service and Infrastructure data portal, a component of OCUL’s Scholars Portal suite of data resources and tools, as of December 1, 2017.

The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) is proud to announce that our Scholars Portal Journals platform has loaded its 50 millionth journal article.
The Council of Prarie and Pacific University Libraries (COPPUL) and the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) have joined forces in a multi-consortial offering of Archive-It, the web archiving service of the Internet Archive. Working together, COPPUL and OCUL are considering ways that they can significantly expand web archiving in Canada.
Nominations are now open for the OCUL Outstanding Contribution Award.
